Sejal Smith Rodríguez-Guerra

Biomolecular Sciences Master Student

Sejal studies the genetic regulation of DMSP (dimethylsulfoniopropionate) production and catabolism in the marine bacterium Labrenzia aggregata. While DMSP plays a key role in the global sulfur cycle, little is known about the regulators controlling its synthesis and breakdown. Her research focuses on identifying these regulatory elements and understanding how they respond to environmental changes, such as increased salinity.

Studying the salinity-mediated regulation of DMSP production and breakdown.
